TAAKK was launched in 2012 by designer Takuya Morikawa, following his tenure as a design planner for the ISSEY MIYAKE Paris collection. The brand's concept is to "trace experiences in shape, content, material, technique, and method, and layer on new ones. Designing an endless exploration." The brand consistently proposes new ways of expressing fabrics and materials. It debuted with the Spring/Summer 2013 collection and held its runway debut at the Autumn/Winter 2017 Tokyo Collection. In the Autumn/Winter 2018 season, the brand participated in New York Fashion Week for the first time, presenting its collection in a presentation format. In October 2019, it was awarded the "FASHION PRIZE OF TOKYO 2020," leading to its first show in Paris, France, in January 2020. The brand expanded into its first women's collection with the Spring/Summer 2023 season.
