Designer Arashi Yanagawa has an unconventional background as a former professional boxer. After retiring, he moved to the UK, where he gained experience in buying and selling vintage clothing. Heavily influenced by the British fashion he encountered there, he was driven by the desire to "create a cool jacket of my own." He taught himself British tailoring and established "JOHN LAWRENCE SULLIVAN" in 2003. The concept behind JOHN LAWRENCE SULLIVAN is "a masculine image that possesses both strength and elegance," characterized by designs obsessed with precision down to the millimeter. The brand develops collections centered on highly acclaimed tailored jackets, as well as setups, shirts, and denim. While rooted in traditional British tailoring, the brand has led the domestic men's fashion scene by introducing styles that incorporate military and sports tastes. Since advancing to the Paris Collection in 2011 and moving its showcase to the London Collection in 2017, the brand continues to take on new challenges, never ceasing to evolve as it broadcasts its vision to the world.
