After graduating from Tokyo Mode Gakuen and working as a corporate designer, designer Masayuki Ino established doublet in 2012 alongside pattern maker Takashi Murakami. In 2013, he was selected as a business support designer for the Professional Category of the Tokyo New Designer Fashion Grand Prix, where he received the top honor, the Tokyo Governor's Award. Based on the concept of "daily wear with a touch of the unconventional," the brand develops playful, ready-to-wear clothing. doublet’s designs are characterized by sophisticated embroidery techniques, such as humorous fringe-style embroidery and the layering of various text and motifs seen on signature items like the souvenir jacket. After winning the 3rd Tokyo Fashion Award in 2016, the brand held its first runway show at Tokyo Fashion Week in 2017, and went on to win the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers in 2018, establishing itself as one of the most talked-about brands in the industry today.
