CHIYONOFUJI COLLABORATION TAILORED JACKET

The concept for OVERCOAT began with the idea of "Wearing New York." While walking the streets of New York, designer Ryuhei Oomaru was struck by the awning fabric commonly used for storefront canopies. The various graphical fonts printed on them symbolize the city's diversity. The idea of tailoring this rain- and wind-resistant material into a coat led to the launch of the brand. After graduating from Bunka Fashion College, designer Ryuhei Oomaru built his career at houses participating in Paris Fashion Week. Upon moving to the U.S. in 2006, he worked as a creative consultant and pattern maker for top New York designers and brands. He launched OVERCOAT in the Fall/Winter of 2015. The patterns are meticulously crafted, particularly around the shoulder line, allowing for a fit that feels like haute couture while remaining ready-to-wear, creating a beautiful silhouette. The brand proposes clothing that is free from the constraints of size, gender, and age. The materials are developed in collaboration with the world's highest-quality manufacturers, featuring everything from revivals of fabrics once used for uniforms and military attire to unique post-processing techniques, ensuring they are always being updated.
